Nusrat Ghani, the Conservative MP for Wealden, has helped deliver nearly £300,000 of Government funding for the new combined community hall and health centre for communities in Mayfield and Five Ashes.
The new state-of-the-art Community and Health Centre will replace the existing Memorial Hall, which is beyond repair or refurbishment and cannot be made suitable for use in the long term. The new facility is widely welcomed by local residents and will provide a multi-purpose social hub, increasing medical facilities, boosting parking provision and improving opportunities for fitness and social activities.
Nusrat has been working closely with the Parish Council on making representations to Ministers at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities to secure additional funding and has successfully delivered £297,463 from the latest round of the Government’s highly competitive £150 million Community Ownership Fund.
The Community Ownership Fund is allowing community groups across the country to take ownership of assets, enabling them to run these assets for their community, and preserving them for future generations. In this latest round of funding, 70 community spaces have been awarded a share of almost £25 million.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I’m thrilled to have secured over £297,000 of Government funding towards the delivery of the new combined community hall and health centre in Mayfield.
This much-needed asset will make a huge difference in the provision of medical services in Wealden and ensure GP practice teams can deliver a higher quality of healthcare for local residents.
This new multi-purpose centre will also bring enormous benefits to communities in Mayfield and Five Ashes as a community hub, with increased opportunities for fitness and social activities. This boost in funding is a fantastic win for Mayfield and Five Ashes, and I look forward to the completed delivery of this project for the communities of Mayfield and Five Ashes next year.”
