Wealden District Councillor for Frant & Wadhurst (along with Cllr Bob Standley), Johanna Howell was elected in 2007. She is Chairman of the council's Planning North committee.Johanna is also a Frant Parish Councillor.
Johanna has lived in this area her whole life, been a member of the parish council for more than 20 years and your district councillor for the past 18 years.
She was organised the Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations for her parish and planted trees for the Queens Canop (see photo).
Johanna is Chair of the People Scrutiny Committee for East Sussex County Council and chaired the first working party into the seriously injured and killed in Wealden.
She has also been at the forefront of organising and getting the funding for the crossing in Frant. Local issues for local people.
Johanna is standing to be re-elected as a district councillor for Frant & Wadhurst in May's local elections, saying:
Our High Streets are an essential part of our villages and we will continue to lobby to support them.
Car parking in Wadhurst is challenging but we will endeavour to find a solution if at all possible.
Doctors’ surgeries are for the NHS to provide, but we are keenly aware of the problems Frant and Wadhurst resident have in getting appointments and we work with the NHS to find a solution.
Another burning issue for Johanna is inappropriate development:
Our local councillors have and will continue their representations to central Government with regard to housing numbers.
Wealden Conservatives were in the forefront of successfully getting Michael Gove to re-assess the housing numbers.
Wadhurst and Frant are in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – which limits development. We need local homes for local people with the required infrastructure.
