Doina Rusu is really thrilled to be standing for election to the District Council to represent Hailsham Central. She has been elected unopposed as a Town Councillor for the area.
I have lived in Hailsham with my family for the past eight years. I am the proud mother of a teenager. I work locally in the social care sector.
Like my Conservative colleagues, I am keen that we build on the success of the recent Wealden Safer Streets initiative to tackle anti-social behaviour in the town, by supporting more PCSOs and a greater police visibility.
I’m also keen that we deliver Conservative-run Wealden District’s planned new medical and leisure centres which are very important to delivering our growing town’s needs.
I want to see us invest more in supporting our local economy from our wonderful high street to the many small businesses which thrive in the area.
I will campaign against over-development and for housing which prioritises local needs.
At the Town Council I want to see a more responsible approach to spending our money.
If elected, I promise to work hard to change things for the better; I will try to keep council taxes as low as possible and spend money wisely to the maximum benefit of our local community.
