Heathfield, Five Ashes, & Mayfield benefit from Improved bus services -- a move welcomed by Conservative candidate Neil Waller

Conservatives running East Sussex County Council have announced substantial bus service improvements with new routes being introduced, timetables extended, and welcome improvements to many Sunday services taking effect from this month.

Conservative candidate in the forthcoming county by-election for Heathfield, Mayfield and Five Ashes, said: “I very much welcome, and am pleased that we can support the introduction of these new services.”

Mayfield, Fives Ashes & Heathfield will benefit from a new, hourly Monday-Saturday evening service on an extended route 51 to Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells (with improved Sunday frequency), while a new daily route 29a will connect Heathfield and Brighton, along with improved frequency on the 231 between Etchingham and Heathfield. There will also be a new Saturday service on route 225 from Heathfield to Rushlake Green.

 

 TIMETABLE CHANGES 

  • Mayfield, Rotherfield, Town Row, Mark Cross – Route 51/251/252 (Eastbourne-Polegate-Hailsham-Heathfield-Mayfield-Rotherfield-Town Row-Mark Cross-Tunbridge Wells). New hourly Monday to Saturday evening service to/from Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne, which is also increased to hourly on Sundays. Service to be numbered route 51 throughout.

 

Heathfield

  • New seven days a week route 29A linking Brighton, Lewes, Uckfield, Framfield, Blackboys and Heathfield. Hourly, including up to mid evening on Mondays to Saturdays.
  • Route 231 (currently Etchingham-Burwash-Broad Oak-Heathfield-Blackboys-Framfield-Uckfield) revised to run locally between Etchingham and Heathfield to an improved frequency. Hourly/2 hourly on Monday to Fridays plus new Saturday service. Connections will be available at Heathfield to/from new 29A for Uckfield, Lewes and Brighton. Route 231 will also serve Burwash, Batemans, on a pre-booked basis.
  • Route 51/251/252 (Eastbourne-Polegate-Hailsham-Heathfield-Mayfield-Rotherfield-Tunbridge Wells). New hourly Monday to Saturday evening service to/from Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne, which is also increased to hourly on Sundays. Service to be numbered route 51 throughout.
  • New Saturday service on route 225 between Heathfield and Rushlake Green.
