Nusrat Ghani, Conservative MP for Mayfield attended an online stakeholder meeting. Afterwards, she said:
"As many Sussex Weald residents will be aware, the consultation by East Sussex Fire Authority on future options for Mayfield On Call Fire Station is currently open until 27th September 2024. I have been contacted by local residents regarding the matter, I continue to follow the progress of it closely and I attended a stakeholder briefing earlier this week to raise concerns with the lead representatives of the East Sussex Fire Authority.
During the stakeholder briefing, I raised concerns on behalf of residents on the viability of the consultation, challenged the service and call out data, challenged future projections of expected levels of service and long-term impact assessment of station closure, and stressed to East Sussex Fire Authority that it is vital to ensure that any changes made to the current service provision will not impact appropriate response times to incidents in the area.
I strongly encourage local residents to take part in the consultation and have their say to ensure that East Sussex Fire Authority understands local concerns and is held accountable for its service provision.
