The new Changing Places facility in Hailsham was originally proposed at a cost of £80,000 but has ended up costing nearly DOUBLE in a failed project by the Lib Dem-run town council.
Its proposed location gyrated from the James West Centre to Western Road Rec, then to Vicarage Field.
There are concerns that the procurement process was weak. The toilets were built in a hurry and neglected to take account of the service connection needs, resulting in a toilet that didn’t open but required extra work and may cost nearly £160,000.
